The World

Inspired by Béres Pork Shop and their pork baps

This one is a proper daft-but-lovely ode to a simple joy - A tongue-in-cheek love song about Béres Pork Shop and the finest pork bap I know. Warm bread, crisp crackling and that first bite you have been thinking about all week.

It is heartfelt and cheeky in equal measure, the way the best love songs about food always are. Picture it eaten by the sea at the golden end of the day, the sun going down over the water and not a care in the world.

It is a little bit silly and I would not change a word of it. Sometimes the simplest things - Good bread, good company, a beach and a bap - are the ones worth writing a whole song about. And to my delight, Béres themselves shared it on social media when it came out - The very shop the song is about actually knew. This one is out now.

Lyrics

Béres by the Sea - Lyrics

Verse

Out on the street, I'm sniffing the air That roast pork smell, it's everywhere Bread roll warm, packed nice and thick Stacked so high, it's gone in a lick The crackling's crisp, the pork's just right I'm dreaming about it every night Béres magic, I swear it's true One pork bap and you're brand new

Chorus

Béres, Béres, Béres by the sea Apple sauce for you and me Soft white bap with a pork so free The dip on the side, that's the key Juicy meat with a golden glow Ask for the dip but keep it low Sheffield's pride eternally It's porky joy for you and me

Verse

Flaky pies and sausage rolls Hot from the oven, warming souls No brown sauce, no mustard mess Just apple sauce, except no less Clap for crackling, stomp for bap Raise your roll, give it a slap But if you know, then don't you slip Whisper low, you've got the dip

Chorus

Béres, Béres, Béres by the sea Lads and lasses come and see From Woodseats up to Crooks with glee We're porked up pals in harmony Apple sauce, bap held tight The dip hidden outa sight There's nowhere else we'd rather be Than Béres time with you and me

Outro

What you havin'? Roast pork with the dip He knows Béres forever
