Sync & Licensing

Music Licensing & Sync.

Warm, cinematic, piano-led music - written to be lived inside, and available to licence direct from the artist. I am Joseph Laurence®, a UK songwriter and composer making the kind of music that scores a feeling: big melodies that ache and then lift, real-feeling orchestration, the hush before a drop and the run home afterwards with your heart going.

Every track is written, arranged and owned by me, which means clearance is simple and the conversation is with the person who made the music. No catalogue wall, no committee - just a direct line to original cinematic music for your film, advert, game or attraction. If you have a brief, a temp track you are chasing, or a feeling you cannot quite name yet, get in touch and let us find the right cue together.

What I License

Original Cinematic Music for Your Project.

The same melodic, cinematic instinct, shaped to four kinds of brief. Existing tracks can be licensed as they are, or I can compose to picture and to your deadline.

Cinematic Music for Film & Documentary

For film and documentary, the music should disappear into the picture and carry the feeling without ever asking for attention. That is the work I love most: emotional cinematic piano under a quiet scene, a slow orchestral build that pays off a journey, a single held melody that lets a face do the talking. Long, patient, human - made to sit beneath narration and dialogue rather than fight it.

Existing tracks can be licensed as they are, or I can write to picture and to your edit - matching a temp score, hitting the beats you have locked, and shaping the arrangement around the cut. Instrumental versions and stems are available on request so your mix can breathe.

Good fit for - independent film, short film, documentary and factual, title sequences, festival cuts and personal films that need to feel cinematic on an honest budget.

Music for Trailers & Adverts

Trailers and adverts live or die on the build. The cinematic, golden-hour side of what I do is made for exactly that: a melody that plants early, tension that gathers underneath, and a lift that lands on the logo or the line. Euphoric and sun-soaked when the brief wants joy; wide, tense and luminous when it wants scale.

I can deliver edit-friendly versions - clean builds, defined drops, stings and 60 / 30 / 15-second cuts - and work to your storyboard or animatic so the music and the picture peak together. Because I own the song and the master, a trailer or advert placement is a single, fast clearance.

Good fit for - brand and product adverts, cinema and online trailers, game and app launches, seasonal and campaign films, and sizzle reels that need a real, original anthem rather than a library stand-in.

Theme Parks & Attractions Music

This is the brief I am built for. My out-now single, The Runaway Mine Train, is an original song inspired by the Alton Towers ride - not the ride's soundtrack, but a love letter to it - and, to my absolute delight, Alton Towers themselves have had it playing in the office. A wider theme-park concept record is taking shape next. Theme parks are not a side interest for me; they are a whole world I write inside.

That makes me an unusually good match for attraction, ride and themed-entertainment briefs: euphoric, nostalgic, sun-soaked cinematic music that already lives in the language of queues, lift hills and the gates opening on a summer morning. I can licence existing theme-park-inspired tracks, or compose original music to commission for an area, a ride, a season, a campaign or a show.

To be honest and clear: this is theme-park-inspired music, available to licence or commission. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or official music for any park or ride unless agreed in writing.

Good fit for - theme parks and attractions, ride and area themes, seasonal events, brand and campaign films, fan POV edits, and themed-entertainment projects that want a genuine, melodic, original score.

Music for Games

I write the kind of music games are built to be felt in: cinematic, world-first, and as comfortable in a tense traversal as in a quiet menu or an emotional story beat. The widest of my records, Arcadian Sky, is an independent album inspired by the game ARC Raiders - long, luminous builds and real-feeling orchestration, music for the hush before the descent. (To be clear: Arcadian Sky is my own album inspired by the game; it is not the official ARC Raiders soundtrack, which is by Patrik Andren and Johan Soderqvist for Embark Studios.)

For games I can licence existing cues or compose original music to brief - themes, ambient and exploration beds, tension layers, and cinematic moments for trailers and key story scenes. Stems and loopable versions are available on request so your audio team has room to work, and the clearance is one-stop because the music is mine.

Good fit for - indie and AA games, narrative and atmospheric titles, launch and announce trailers, and any project that wants original cinematic music with a strong melodic identity.

The Sound

Moods to Licence.

The thread through everything is cinematic and melody-first. If you are chasing a feeling, here is the palette to point at.

  • Warm & Emotional

Tender piano, intimate and human, made to sit under a story.

  • Epic & Uplifting

Big builds and a lift that lands; anthemic when the moment calls for it.

  • Cinematic Piano

Patient, expressive, score-ready; the heart of what I do.

  • Euphoric & Nostalgic

    Sun-soaked, joyful, golden-hour; the theme-park world.

  • Wide & Luminous

Long orchestral builds with real scale and a low, patient tension.

  • Tense & Hopeful

The hush before the drop, and the stubborn human hope that keeps people moving.

Common Questions

Licensing, Answered.

Can I Licence Music Directly from Joseph Laurence?

Yes. I write, perform and own both the song and the master recording, so you can licence music directly from me as a one-stop clearance - no separate publisher or label to chase. Email hello@josephlaurence.com with your project details for a quote.

Do You Offer Instrumental Versions and Stems?

Yes - instrumental versions and split stems are available on request, alongside broadcast-ready WAV or AIFF masters and alternate edits or lengths to fit your cut.

Will You Write Original Music to Brief?

Yes. As well as licensing existing tracks, I compose original cinematic music to picture, to a temp track and to your deadline - for film, documentary, trailers, adverts, games and theme-park or attraction briefs.

Is The Runaway Mine Train the Official Alton Towers Ride Soundtrack?

No. The Runaway Mine Train is my own original song inspired by the Alton Towers ride - a tribute to it, not the ride's official soundtrack. Alton Towers have, to my delight, had it playing in their office, but it is an independent release by Joseph Laurence.

Is Arcadian Sky the Official ARC Raiders Soundtrack?

No. Arcadian Sky is my own independent album inspired by the game ARC Raiders. It is not the official soundtrack, which is by Patrik Andren and Johan Soderqvist for Embark Studios, and it implies no affiliation with or endorsement by Embark Studios.

Are You Registered with PRS for Music and PPL?

Yes. I am UK-based and registered with PRS for Music and PPL, and I supply metadata for cue sheets so performance and broadcast usage is properly accounted for.
